Al-Mustapha Dismisses Ex-DSS Operative’s Claims on Abacha’s Death Former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), has dismissed claims made by former Department of State Services operative, Dennis Amachree, regarding the circumstances surrounding the late military ruler’s death. Al-Mustapha described the account as false and urged Nigerians to disregard it. He spoke with journalists on the sidelines of the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference held at Arewa House in Kaduna on Saturday. His reaction followed renewed public attention on Amachree’s memoir, The Shadow Warrior, in which the retired DSS officer reportedly detailed his account of the events leading to Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998.  CUSTECH Expels Two Students for 'Gay Practices', Rusticates Four for Fighting


The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Kogi State has taken decisive disciplinary action against several students, expelling two for allegedly engaging in homosexual activities and rusticating four others for physical fighting on campus.


These strict measures were made public through separate official letters signed by the university's Deputy Registrar of Academics, Eli Gbadafu. The sanctions were executed following the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee and were officially ratified during the 31st regular meeting of the university Senate.


Details of the Disciplinary Action


According to the institution, the disciplinary measures conform strictly with the rules and guidelines outlined in the revised CUSTECH Students’ Handbook (Second Edition, amended in 2025). The university administration emphasized that upholding these regulations is paramount to maintaining institutional order.


The two expelled students, who were found guilty of gay practices after a formal investigation, are:


• Onumoko Hamza – Department of Biology Education

• Abdulazeez Eneji – Department of Mining Engineering

Additionally, the university slammed a one-academic-session rustication on four female students for their involvement in a campus fight. The affected students are:


• Favor Akowe – Department of Microbiology

• Simbiat Babamuharuna – Department of Biology

• Zainab Omayoza – Department of Biochemistry

• Sukura Bukola – Department of Biochemistry

Maintaining a Safe Academic Environment


The CUSTECH administration reiterated its unwavering commitment to fostering a safe, orderly, and highly conducive atmosphere for teaching, learning, and character development. Management warned that any form of moral misconduct or violence that threatens the university's peace would be met with severe consequences.


The university further advised all registered students to familiarize themselves with the provisions of the updated Students’ Handbook and conduct themselves in an exemplary manner throughout their academic journey.
