Al-Mustapha Dismisses Ex-DSS Operative’s Claims on Abacha’s Death Former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), has dismissed claims made by former Department of State Services operative, Dennis Amachree, regarding the circumstances surrounding the late military ruler’s death. Al-Mustapha described the account as false and urged Nigerians to disregard it. He spoke with journalists on the sidelines of the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference held at Arewa House in Kaduna on Saturday. His reaction followed renewed public attention on Amachree’s memoir, The Shadow Warrior, in which the retired DSS officer reportedly detailed his account of the events leading to Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998.  Egypt rules out 'popular normalisation' with Israel if no 'just peace'


Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said there will be "no popular normalisation" with Israel unless a just peace is achieved that ends the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.


Sisi's remarks came during a Saturday speech at the inauguration ceremony for the State Strategic Command headquarters in Egypt's New Administrative Capital east of Cairo, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.


"There will be no lasting peace, no true stability, and no popular normalisation except with a just peace that ends the occupation, puts an end to injustice and aggression, restores rights to their rightful owners, and provides security for all," the president said, Anadolu Agency reported.


A just peace would provide the peoples of the region with "an opportunity to live in stability and prosperity," he added.


Sisi also called for support for the Gaza ceasefire, which took effect in October 2025, as well as for a recent framework deal between Iran and the US to end their conflict.
