Former Catholic Knight arrested over alleged ritual cleansing exercise in Nnewi Vigilantes in Nnewi have arrested Sir James Louis Okoye, a former Catholic Knight of St John International, who reportedly renounced Christianity during the official opening of Our Lady of Assumpta Catholic Church, Nnewi in January this year over non-recognition of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. Okoye was arrested after he was seen on Saturday wearing a red dress with fresh palm fronds between his lips, with a bell in hand, performing what he believed was the ritual cleansing of Nnewi land on the streets of the town. Okoye gained popularity in January, during the official consecration of the Nnewi Catholic Cathedral, where he decried the non-recognition Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who he believed built the cathedral to almost completion before his death.  FG MOURNS NIGERIAN KILLED IN KHARKIV, UKRAINE ATTACK


The Federal Government is mourning the death of a 23-year-old Nigerian medical graduate, Miss Nnani Adaobi Marian.  


In a statement, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said she died from injuries sustained during a Russian aerial attack in Kharkiv, Ukraine.


The Ministry informed that late Miss Nnani was a graduate of Kharkiv National Medical University.


On behalf of the Federal Government, it extended condolences to her family and pointed out that the Ministry is in contact with Nigerian Missions in Ukraine and Germany to verify details and provide consular assistance. 


The statement renewed its call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict while reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to the protection and welfare of its citizens abroad. 


The Nigerian Government further emphasized that it will continue to monitor developments closely while providing all necessary support through its diplomatic missions.
