  Two arrested over k!lling of popular Kano Social Media political commentator The police in Kano State says two persons have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of a popular political commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu. Ibrahim, who is known on social media for his strong views on politics and religion in Nigeria, was found dead with his throat slit in his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, on Monday, September 9.  Confirming the incident to newsmen, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the command received a distress call about the incident on Monday at about 11:30pm.  “Operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division promptly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was confirmed de@d on arrival by a medical doctor,” the statement said The police said the Kumbotso Divisional Police Officer have arrested the two suspects in connection with the unfor...

Former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and former Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, has passed on at the age of 88.


He passed away in the early hours of Thursday at a hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.


The late statesman's body is expected to arrive in Sokoto, where burial arrangements are underway.
