Al-Mustapha Dismisses Ex-DSS Operative’s Claims on Abacha’s Death Former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), has dismissed claims made by former Department of State Services operative, Dennis Amachree, regarding the circumstances surrounding the late military ruler’s death. Al-Mustapha described the account as false and urged Nigerians to disregard it. He spoke with journalists on the sidelines of the 3rd General Hassan Usman Katsina Memorial Conference held at Arewa House in Kaduna on Saturday. His reaction followed renewed public attention on Amachree’s memoir, The Shadow Warrior, in which the retired DSS officer reportedly detailed his account of the events leading to Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998. Rejecting the claims, Al-Mustapha alleged that the account was fabricated and did not reflect what transpired. “The boy was asked by others to write those lies.  JD Vance and wife share first family snap with newborn son amid rumors of tension over his name

Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha, recently introduced their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance, to the public with a family portrait shared online. The couple, who welcomed Alec at Walter Reed Medical Center on July 19, posed with their three older children Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel in a candid photo that Usha captioned with humor about the difficulty of photographing four young kids at once.

Alec’s birth was historic, making Usha the first Second Lady in more than 150 years to deliver a child while her husband served as Vice President.

The choice of Alec’s name has drawn attention for its layered meaning. Derived from Greek, Alec is associated with strength and protection, often interpreted as “defender of men.”

His middle name, Neel, carries Sanskrit roots meaning “blue,” a nod to Usha’s Indian heritage. Etiquette experts have noted that the name reflects both JD’s Catholic faith and Usha’s cultural background.

Reports also surfaced that JD briefly considered naming the baby Donald as a tribute to President Trump, but Usha firmly rejected the idea, preferring a name tied to family rather than politics.

Speculation has continued around whether Trump might serve as Alec’s godfather, though the Vances have not confirmed any choices. Sources suggest the couple is focused on their newborn and wary of turning such decisions into political headlines.

For now, JD and Usha are raising their children in an interfaith Christian household that blends Catholic traditions with elements of Hindu practice.

Their announcement emphasized gratitude for the military doctors and staff who cared for them, as well as joy in expanding their family to six.
