LeBron James has officially committed to the Philadelphia 76ers, signing a two‑year, $8 million contract that he announced on X. At 41 years old, James enters his 24th NBA season after parting ways with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this summer. 

His decision marks another chapter in a career that began as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 draft and has long fueled debates about his place among the greatest players in basketball history.

James’s journey has been defined by bold moves and historic triumphs. After seven seasons in Cleveland, he joined the Miami Heat in 2010, sparking controversy but also launching a run of eight straight Finals appearances. 

He captured back‑to‑back titles in 2012 and 2013 before returning to the Cavaliers, where he delivered the franchise’s first championship in 2016 by overcoming a 3‑1 deficit against the record‑setting Golden State Warriors. 

Later, his move to Los Angeles in 2018 brought another milestone: in 2020, he became the first player to win Finals MVP with three different teams, guiding the Lakers to a bubble‑era championship.
