Libyan police arrest Argentina fans, forcefully shave their heads following post-match altercations

Tension boiled over in the streets of Ajdabiya, Libya this week as local police apprehended a group of Argentina supporters following a volatile celebration that turned into a public disturbance.

The group had taken to the streets to celebrate Argentina’s qualification in the ongoing World Cup and the concurrent elimination of Egypt from the tournament.

According to law enforcement, the jubilation quickly spiraled into a confrontational situation as the Argentina supporters clashed with a group of Egyptian fans who were also present in the area.

Authorities intervened to disperse the crowds, citing significant disruption to local traffic flow and a breach of public order.

In a controversial move following their arrest, police forcibly shaved the heads of the detained individuals.

Officials stated that the punitive measure was taken in response to the group’s disruptive behavior and what they described as inflammatory displays of support for Argentina directed against Egypt.
