The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo has held an orientation session with the newly employed 31 Scientific Officers posted to various departments of the ministry and Hospitals in the state.
At the meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry on Monday, July 6 the Permanent Secretary exposed various tenets of the Civil Service that they should be conversant with to do well in their places of assignment.
She said above all that the workers should get abreast with the Governor Chukwuma Soludo's vision, mission and manifestos. "The government of the day has a lot of works at hand; we need to be in support of the tasks of the government so that we can do our bits to help make them happen".
About the Civil Service Rule, Dr. Uchebo told them to download them into their digital systems and memorize them as they go on in the job. "learn the latest Civil Service Rule 2021 and get the Scheme of Service also which will teach you what your job is anywhere you are posted".
The Permanent Secretary told the new workers to eschew fraudulent practices in the job but get abreast with the Financial Regulation especially where all monies and requests for funds to meet official procurements must the authorized by the authorizing superior officer and that afterwards the funds released must be retired accordingly with genuine receipts.
On ICT, she urged the workers to learn the usage of the computer system and the various packages therein saying that becoming computer compliant would help them progress in the job especially now that the world is expounding the application and usage of the computers in the day to day distribution and circulation of various jobs and ideas.
In behavioural pattern to be displayed at work and habit of clothing cum dressing the new workers were told to be respectful to their superior officers and maintain neat dressing and complete traditional wears at every specific days they were meant to be be adorned.
While giving a vote thanks one of the Scientific Officers, Obinna Obiekwe commended the State Government, the Ministry of Health and the Permanent Secretary for the exercise and opportunity given to them. He promised on behalf of others that the advice and instructions they got at the orientation would be fully adhered to and implemented.
The 31 Scientific Officers were employed between October and November 2025 by the State Government. They resumed duties by April 2026 and have been posted to various Departments and Hospitals in the state to help boost official activities accordingly.
