POLICE CONDEMN ATTACK ON STUDENT, ARREST 3 SUSPECTS OVER CAUSING GREVIOUS HURT IN BAUCHI
CP Vows to Bring Perpetrators to Justice, Intensifies Manhunt for Fleeing Suspects
The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded significant progress in its ongoing fight against violent crime in the state following swift action on a case of assault involving a student and subsequent arrests made in connection with the incident.
The Command wishes to inform the public that on 15th July 2026 at about 1300hrs, 18-years-old student of Government Day Secondary School, Miri, Bauchi, was attacked by two unknown young men while returning home at Birindi Sabon Kauran Lafiyari.
According to the complaint lodged at 'B' Division GRA Bauchi by the victim’s father, the hoodlums, who were armed with machetes, intercepted the student and demanded to know where he was coming from. Upon his response, one of the suspects inflicted a wide and deep machete cut on his left hand and fled the scene.
Acting promptly, operatives attached to the Division rushed the victim to the ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for immediate medical attention. He is currently responding to treatment and in stable condition. The scene of crime was also visited, and though the suspects escaped, the victim was able to identify them by their faces.
FOLLOW-UP AND ARRESTS
In a related development and sequel to intensive follow-up investigation, operatives of the 'B' Division have arrested three (3) suspects and recovered dangerous weapons in connection with the case. The suspects are:
1. Aliyu Abubakar, m, 23yrs,
2. Mubarak Muhammad, m, 18yrs, and
3. Salisu Abubakar aka Ustas, m, 22yrs
All of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi
However, three other suspects identified as Ismail aka Matsala, Abba Sarkin Fawa, and Sagir aka Kwalba all of the same address, managed to escape and are currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has strongly condemned the attack and directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi, for discreet and thorough investigation with a view to charging the arrested suspects to court.
Furthermore, the CP has ordered a full-scale manhunt for the fleeing suspects and reassured the people of Bauchi State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements.
He also called on parents, guardians, and school authorities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around schools and communities to the nearest Police Station for prompt action.
The Command appreciates the cooperation of members of the public and urges anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of the fleeing suspects to volunteer same to the Police.
