On 15th July 2026 at about 0400hrs, during a search and manhunt operation led by DPO Kirfi, operatives successfully rescued a 40-year-old kidnap victim, Mr. Gide Mai Yara, of Yoye Village via Bara, Kirfi LGA.
The victim was abducted on 12th July, 2026 by unknown gunmen. He was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Kirfi for medical examination and treatment. He is currently responding to treatment and will soon be reunited with his family.
2. DISLODGE OF KIDNAPPERS’ CAMP IN BUNUNU
In a related development, on the same date, the Bununu Divisional Police Headquarters received credible information from a good Samaritan regarding the hideout of a kidnapping gang located at Yelwan Mball Mountain.
Acting on the information, the DPO immediately mobilised a joint team of Police personnel attached to Mball Outstation, local hunters and vigilantes. The team stormed the mountainous hideout and dislodged the criminals.
Unable to withstand the teams' superior fire, the hoodlums fled into the forest. Several personal belongings suspected to belong to the kidnappers were recovered from the camp.
The visionary Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), commended the officers, local hunters and vigilantes for their gallantry and synergy. He also appreciated members of the public for providing timely information.
The CP assured the good people of Bauchi State that the Command will sustain the onslaught against criminal elements and urged citizens to continue to support the Police with credible and time information to enable prompt response.
