Okin Biscuits resumes production after 17 years The once-popular Okin Biscuits has resumed production for the first time in 17 years, after rehabilitating one of its production lines that had been shut down when vandals stole its cables, frequency drives, contactors, motors, and other electronic components. The company disclosed this in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, describing Tuesday’s development as a significant milestone. According to the statement, the exercise carried out on Tuesday was a technical trial run and not a test of the finished product, as the firm was yet to perfect the taste and quality Nigerians identified with the Okin brand before the factory went under. POLICE RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIM IN KIRFI AND DISLODGE KIDNAPPERS’ HIDEOUT IN BUNUNU


   CP Omolori Reaffirms Commitment to Flush Out Criminal Elements


In its untiring efforts to ensure that the state is habitable for all law abiding citizens, Bauchi State Police Command has recorded major operational successes in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime following coordinated operations in Kirfi and Bununu areas of the state.


1.  RESCUE OF KIDNAP VICTIM IN KIRFI LGA  


On 15th July 2026 at about 0400hrs, during a search and manhunt operation led  by DPO Kirfi, operatives successfully rescued a  40-year-old kidnap victim, Mr. Gide Mai Yara, of Yoye Village via Bara, Kirfi LGA. 


The victim was abducted on 12th July, 2026 by unknown gunmen. He was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Kirfi for medical examination and treatment. He is currently responding to treatment and will soon be reunited with his family.


2.  DISLODGE OF KIDNAPPERS’ CAMP IN BUNUNU

 

In a related development, on the same date, the Bununu Divisional Police Headquarters received credible information from a good Samaritan regarding the hideout of a kidnapping gang located at Yelwan Mball Mountain.


Acting on the information, the DPO immediately mobilised a joint team of Police personnel attached to Mball Outstation, local hunters and vigilantes. The team stormed the mountainous hideout and dislodged the criminals. 


Unable to withstand the teams' superior fire, the hoodlums fled into the forest. Several personal belongings suspected to belong to the kidnappers were recovered from the camp.

  

The visionary Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), commended the officers, local hunters and vigilantes for their gallantry and synergy. He also appreciated members of the public for providing timely information.


The CP assured the good people of Bauchi State that the Command will sustain the onslaught against criminal elements and urged citizens to continue to support the Police with credible and time information to enable prompt response.


Investigation is ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing suspects and rescue more victims.
