ALLEGED CYBERCRIME : COURT GIVES SOWORE FINAL WARNING TO CONCLUDE DEFENCE . (PHOTO).
The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Professor Abayomi Fasina as a non-career ambassador, as requested by President Bola Tinubu.
A mild drama, however, ensued during the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which conducted the screening.
Senator Oshiomhole raised a point of order regarding a petition against the nominee by a colleague at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti.
The Senate concluded, as captured in the report submitted by the committee, that the nominee had been cleared of the allegations of sexual harassment by both the authorities of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti and the Nigeria Police Force and therefore went ahead with the legislative exercise and confirmed Professor Fasina.
In another development, the Senate has rescinded its passage of the Proceeds of Crime Act Amendment Bill to effect adjustments to some provisions that may affect the implementation of the proposed legislation.
