Payment of Assessment Fee, not Building Permit , Planning Ministry Clarifies. By Ruth Orji The Anambra State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has  clarified developers  that payment of an assessment fee does not automatically confer approval or grant a development permit. The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barr. Chijioke Ojukwu, stated this in a statement issued on August 24. According to the Commissioner, many developers mistakenly assume that payment of the assessment fee amounts to the approval of their building plans or the issuance of a development permit. He explained that Section 19 of the Physical Planning Regulations clearly states that payment of an assessment fee does not amount to the grant of a building permit, as the fee is strictly an application fee. Barr. Ojukwu further noted that the Ministry's Legal Department may raise administrative queries where proposed building plans violate the approved building cover...

2027: Ekiti PDP Gov Candidate Backs Tinubu, Unveils Grassroots Movement

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the just-concluded Ekiti State governorship election, Wole Oluyede, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu can get overwhelming support in the state with strategic grassroots mobilisation and collective commitment.

The PDP chieftain, who reiterated unflinching support for Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, expressed readiness to launch a platform, the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, to champion consultations among leadership and members of the different political parties in the state with a view to deepening grassroots mobilisation for the president’s victory.

Oluyede, in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Thursday, said the decision to launch the platform followed a strategic meeting with Tinubu in Abuja where he formally presented a document titled ‘Strategic grassroots mobilisation for the Renewed Hope Agenda’ to the president.

According to him, the document is a blueprint designed to deepen grassroots engagement and mobilise broad-based support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda across Ekiti State ahead of the 2027 general election.

Oluyede stated, “The meeting with the president focused on the future of Ekiti State and practical strategies for building an inclusive grassroots movement capable of strengthening public participation, promoting national unity and delivering overwhelming electoral support for President Tinubu in the next presidential election”.

“While the June 20, 2026 Ekiti State governorship election has come and gone, the task of building a stronger Ekiti and contributing to Nigeria’s continued progress must now take centre stage. Our focus must now shift to the next national assignment. It is time for all lovers of Ekiti and Nigeria to unite in support of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
