23-year-old Nigerian Law School student dies at Lagos campus
The Nigerian Law School has confirmed the death of 23-year-old Faith Ajoke Alayande, a student of the Lagos Campus in Victoria Island.
Alayande was reportedly found dead within the hostel premises on Friday, August 7, 2026, after she allegedly fell from the rooftop of the four-storey hostel building.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, a note believed to be a suicide note was reportedly discovered by her hostel mate and a relative, who had been searching for her. The matter was subsequently reported to the Victoria Island Police Division.
The police visited the scene and evacuated her body to a morgue, while investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Her death has reportedly left friends, colleagues and those who knew her deeply saddened. One of those who supervised her during her university years described the incident as heartbreaking, recalling that she had previously researched and discussed issues surrounding the right to life and the right to die while working on Medical Law.
Faith had graduated from university before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School earlier this year.
May her soul rest in peace. 🕊️
