Trigger Warning- A 7-year-old Ohio boy was found duct-taped and deceased in a closet after his mother burst into an Urgent Care and threw herself on the floor, claiming her son had been kidnapped.
William Evans, just 7-years-old, was discovered heavily bound by duct tape and deceased inside of a closet in the home his mother 38-year-old Kaitlin Evans shared with two other women. Those women are 23-year-old Kirby Rankin, and 23-year-old Nessa Keany. All three are being charged in connection to the homicide of William Evans.
Authorities would respond to the home on Madison Road, where they found William after a bizarre outburst from Kaitlin at an Urgent Care in Cincinnati on Thursday. According to reports, a strange acting Kaitlin had suddenly shown up at the Urgent Care near her home.
Officers received a call describing what was transpiring as the following:
"A barefoot female-who is lying on the floor stating someone is attempting to k*ll her, and her son has been kidnapped."
After receiving that information, officers descended on the home where the three women and William lived. What they discovered inside the home has shaken even veteran officers with the Cincinnati Police Department. Not only would they find the young boy deceased in a closet and bound by duct tape, but also evidence that the poor child had suffered unimaginable treatment during the final months of his young life.
All three women were arraigned in a Cincinnati courtroom today. During the arraignment, Kyle Smith, one of the detectives that entered the home on Thursday, would provide powerful testimony.
Smith stated, "In my 21 years of law enforcement experience, this is probably one of the most disturbing examples of child @buse that I've ever witnessed... physical beatings and blunt force injuries from striking devices on the face, torso, back and upper and lower extremities. Impact injuries to the back of the head."
Detective Smith also stated evidence suggested William had been held under water for very long periods of time and had many burn marks on his little body.
It appears William Evans suffered in nearly every imaginable way inside of that home with his mother, Nessa Keaney and Kirby Rankin.
Kaitlin Evans was represented by Brandon Fox During the arraignment today. Mr. Fox argued that Kaitlin was not responsible for William's death and shifted all blame to her housemates.
Despite having a defense attorney present, Kaitlin was issued the same bond as her housemates. All three women are being held on 1.1 million dollar bonds on charges connected to the death of William Evans.
Little William underwent an autopsy today, on Friday August 7th, but the cause of death will not be released for at least a week as they gather additional information. The court is also awaiting a grand jury report that is due within the next 10 days.
This is an incredibly heartbreaking story and we hope William, and all of those who loved him, will get the justice they all deserve.
