 PRESS RELEASE OYO POLICE ARREST SIX SUSPECTED COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY DEALERS, RECOVER €8,900 SUSPECTED FAKE EURO NOTES The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six suspects linked to the possession, circulation and alleged production of counterfeit Euro currency, following a successful patrol operation by operatives of the Command. On 1 September 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., operatives on township patrol around the Labo–Wesley area intercepted three men travelling on a motorcycle. A search conducted on them led to the recovery of 89 pieces of suspected counterfeit €100 notes, with a total face value of €8,900. The suspects were identified as Tijani Saheed, 50, who was found in possession of the suspected counterfeit currency; Oni Oladapo, 67, who is alleged to have supplied the money; Adebayo Saheed, 52, who was the second passenger on the motorcycle; and Hammed Karemu, 25, the motorcycle rider.  A former North Carolina cop who allegedly plotted a mass shooting targeting Black people at a New Orleans festival is walking free. No charges. 


Christopher Gillum, 45, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was arrested in April 2026 at a Destin, Florida hotel. According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies recovered a handgun and roughly 200 rounds of ammunition from his room. Authorities said he was heading to a large festival in New Orleans. The timing lined up with Jazz Fest.


His own family had reported him missing and told police he had expressed recent threats to harm “Black people.” He was wanted in Orleans Parish on terroristic threats. Multiple agencies across North Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana scrambled. The arrest stopped him before he reached Louisiana.


Then in June, a Louisiana grand jury declined to indict him on the state terrorizing charge that could have brought up to 15 years. He was released. Charges were dropped. His lawyer says he’s facing nothing in any jurisdiction. 


Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office later pointed to jurisdictional problems and said the statements to family were vague and didn’t clearly show intent to commit crimes inside Louisiana. They also noted he never actually made it into the state until after the arrest.
