 How Bauchi Accountant-General Transferred State Funds to Private Company - Witness   Trial of the Accountant-General of Bauchi State, Sirajo Muhammed Jaja continued on Monday, September 21, 2026 at the Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu with a witness revealing how Jaja diverted state funds to a private company. Jaja is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC ,  alongside Aliyu Abubakar, Abubakar Muhammed Hafiz, Ari Manga and Muhammed Aminu Bose, for alleged corruption. The defendants are being prosecuted by the EFCC on an amended five-count charge of money laundering, diversion of public funds, and criminal misappropriation of funds to the tune of N1,635,270,350.9 (One Billion, Six Hundred and Thirty-five Million, Two Hundred and Seventy Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Naira, Nine Kobo).  Algeria gifts Niger four military helicopters


Niger's military has received four military helicopters and other equipment gifted by Algeria, airport and security sources told AFP on Tuesday.


Arriving in the Nigerien capital Niamey on Sunday, the shipment included four attack and transport helicopters, spare parts, maintenance equipment and ammunition, an airport source said.


Niger's air force chief of staff, General Salifou Mainassara, formally received the donation on Monday at a ceremony attended by Algerian military officials, a security source said.


The delivery comes as Algeria and Niger strengthen security ties after moving earlier this year to repair relations that had been strained for months following the downing of a Malian drone in Algeria last April.


The incident triggered a diplomatic row, with Niger joining Mali and Burkina Faso in recalling its ambassador from Algiers.


In February, Niger's leader General Abdourahamane Tchiani and Algeria's President Abdelmadjid Tebboune met in Algiers to relaunch ties.


The following month, the neighbour nations, which share a 960-kilometre desert border, agreed to deepen cooperation against terrorism, cross-border crime, and trafficking.


In June, Algeria also inaugurated a 40-megawatt power plant intended to supply electricity to Niamey and surrounding areas.
