ISRAEL DMW REACTS TO ALLEGED EDO STATE BAN ON DAVIDO: 'NO ONE CAN BAN HIM FROM HIS MATERNAL HOME'. (PHOTO).
A Rush Springs, Oklahoma, resident was traveling along Highway 81 on his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle. We are not sharing the victim's name until law enforcement confirms all of his next of kin have been notified.
The police officer fled the scene of the accident, leaving the bicyclist suffering critical injuries along the side of the road. The victim tragically laid there until he passed away from his critical injuries.
The victim leaves behind a wife and a young son. There is a GoFundMe reportedly being made for the family, we will share it when we receive it.
The hit-and-run driver was ultimately revealed to be 47-year-old Jarrod Bishop of the Duncan Police Department. In a heartbreaking and ironic twist, Bishop served as the Advanced Accident Fatality Team Leader for years.
Lt. Jarrod Bishop is THE law enforcement agent who would have been called to investigate the crime scene and bring the suspect to justice. Jarrod Bishop has quite literally put hit-and-run drivers behind bars, for years, that fled the scene without rendering aid or reporting the incident.
However, in this case: Jarrod is the suspect not the expert investigator. Due to his prior position and current position as a veteran training officer, he is facing more severe charges.
Due to his are to his depraved indifference and personal professional knowledge, Bishop is not facing the typical charge of manslaughter or negligent homicide.
Instead, he is being charged with second-degree m*rd*r.
In addition to the m*rd*r charge, Bishop is also charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and obstructing an officer.
Following his arrest, Jarrod Bishop was placed on administrative leave by the City of Duncan Police Department. It is unknown when the man was struck by Lt. Bishop and how the victim was discovered.
The department released a public statement acknowledging an off duty officer was involved in a fatal hit and run. The deparrment assured the community that the investigation was being carried out by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and ended by saying the family of the victim was in their thoughts and prayers.
The family, friends and community of the victim remain in our thoughts as well. We will update.
