BBC SEEKS SUBPOENAS OF TRUMP JR., IVANKA TRUMP, AND JARED KUSHNER IN $10 BILLION TRUMP DEFAMATION LAWSUIT. (PHOTO).

BBC seeks subpoenas of Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner in $10 billion Trump defamation lawsuit

The BBC is seeking to subpoena Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner as part of President Donald Trump’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the British broadcaster.

BBC attorneys argue that Trump’s three family members have firsthand knowledge of his intentions when he delivered his Jan. 6, 2021, speech to supporters at the Ellipse as the attack on the U.S. Capitol was unfolding. Trump’s lawsuit claims a BBC documentary aired in the U.K. in 2024 defamed him by editing separate portions of the speech together in a way that made it appear he was encouraging violence. The BBC has apologized for the editing but disputes that the error provides grounds for the lawsuit.

The BBC says Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump were present while their father revised the speech and attended the rally where he delivered it. Attorneys also say Kushner drafted a proposed statement for Trump condemning the violence. The subpoenas seek testimony under oath from the three family members as well as relevant documents.

According to court filings, the BBC attempted to serve Kushner and Ivanka Trump at their Miami home in May, but police prevented the effort. A Secret Service attorney told the BBC that the agency could not accept subpoenas on behalf of the family members. An attempt to serve Trump Jr. at the Trump Organization's offices in Trump Tower in New York also failed.

In a motion filed Friday in federal court in Miami, the BBC asked the court to allow the subpoenas to be served by mail or to determine that service through Trump's attorneys would be sufficient. Representatives for the Trump family and Trump's legal team did not immediately comment.
