PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY

CAUTION AGAINST RECKLESS SKATING ON PUBLIC HIGHWAYS

Following public outcry over the activities of individuals using skating shoes on public highways in a manner that obstructs traffic and poses risks to other road users, the Borno State Police Command wishes to categorically caution against such practices.

2. The Command acknowledges and appreciates the enthusiasm of young people for skating, kinaesthetic activities and sports. However, all road users are required to comply with existing road safety and traffic regulations.

3. Individuals engaged in skating are therefore advised to use designated playgrounds, sports centres and suitable/approved roads, where such activities can be conducted safely without obstructing or endangering other road users.

4. The Borno State Police Command will not hesitate to take appropriate action against anyone whose activities constitute an obstruction, endangerment or violation of applicable traffic regulations.

Safety first.
