CP DAAOR SEEKS KOGI COMMAND COLLABORATION TO STRENGTHEN BORDER SECURITY, CURB KIDNAPPING ALONG OKENE–AUCHI ROAD

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, mnips, in company of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Area Commanders Auchi and Agenebode on Thursday 13th August, 2026 visited the Edo–Kogi border in Okene as part of efforts to strengthen operational collaboration and border security between the two Commands, particularly in the fight against kidnapping along the Okene–Auchi Expressway.

CP Daaor was received at the border by the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, alongside his entourage including the Area Commander, Divisional Police Officer, and Chairman of Okene Local Government Area and other stakeholders.

During the engagement, both Commissioners reviewed the security situation around the border communities and discussed strategies for improved intelligence sharing, coordinated operations and sustained security presence along identified vulnerable routes.

The two Commissioners also proceeded into the Okene forest, which shares a boundary with the Okpella axis of Edo State, where they undertook an assessment of the terrain and identified routes considered vulnerable to criminal activities. The exercise is expected to enhance operational planning and facilitate better coordination between the two Commands in securing the border corridor.

CP Daaor also held an interactive session with members of the Oguda community in Okene, who presented their security concerns and complaints. The Commissioner listened to the issues raised and assured the community that appropriate security measures would be sustained to address identified threats.

The visit underscores CP Daaor’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with neighbouring Police Commands and other security stakeholders, especially in securing Edo State’s borders and denying criminal elements access to safe havens.

CP Daaor reiterated his determination to eradicate criminal elements operating within Edo State and called for continued cooperation and timely intelligence from border communities.
