 Dolly Parton’s sister Stella remembers their final Tuesday coffee tradition after singer’s death

  Stella Parton, the younger sister of country music icon Dolly Parton, is remembering her sister’s kindness, generosity, and the special bond they shared following Dolly’s death Tuesday at age 80.

In a statement shared on social media, Stella recalled how she and Dolly would speak by phone over coffee early every Tuesday morning. The sisters, who grew up as two of 12 children in a one-room cabin in Sevier County, Tennessee, remained early risers throughout their lives and used their weekly calls to catch up, gossip and make plans.

Stella described Dolly as one of the most generous, thoughtful, and kind people she had ever known, saying the personality fans saw publicly was the same person she knew privately. She also recalled Dolly’s willingness to participate in experimental medical treatment if it could potentially help others, even if there was little hope for her own recovery.

“Dolly loved the world and everyone in it,” Stella wrote, thanking the public for the outpouring of affection following her sister’s death. She said Dolly encouraged her not to dwell on other people’s shortcomings and instead focus on more important things.

Stella said their Tuesday morning coffee tradition will never be the same, but her sister’s love, respect, and goodness will remain. She urged people who want to honor Dolly’s legacy to show more kindness, support others, and give their time and resources to help those in need.

The sisters shared a lifelong love of music. Like Dolly, Stella pursued a recording career in Nashville, while Dolly went on to become one of the most successful and influential figures in country music and a renowned philanthropist and humanitarian.
