The Federal Government has announced the Tertiary Institutions National Laureate Prize, an initiative designed to recognize and reward outstanding academic research, innovation and intellectual excellence across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, with an annual prize pool of approximately 365 million Naira.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, says the prize, being implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank, NERD, will recognise outstanding undergraduate dissertations, Master’s theses and Ph.D. research with strong potential for commercialisation, industrial application and national development.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the culture of scholarship and innovation, while giving national recognition to exceptional academic achievements.
Dr. Alausa further stresses that the credibility of the initiative will depend on a transparent, competitive and merit driven selection process, away from political or personal influence.
