Wright died on Wednesday, Aug. 19, in Los Angeles, his family told TMZ. His wife, Susan Wright, announced his passing on Instagram two days later, sharing photos of the actor with his family and fellow stars. “It is with profound sadness and an unimaginable heaviness in my heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Michael Wright,” Susan wrote. IGP DISU RECEIVES ICAN PRESIDENT, SEEKS STRONGER PARTNERSHIP ON FORENSIC ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL CRIME

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 21st August, 2026, received the President and Chairman of Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, mni, FCA, and her delegation at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, during a courtesy visit focused on strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Institute.

The ICAN President congratulated the IGP on his appointment and commended the priority areas of accountability, modernisation and institutional reform being pursued under his leadership.

The delegation, which included the Registrar/Chief Executive, Dr. Lanre Olasunkanmi; Chairman, ICAN Abuja District, Mr. Emeka Okoroeze; and Mr. Adamu Yusuf, FCA, discussed the growing complexity of financial and economic crimes and the need for stronger technical capacity in forensic accounting and financial investigations.

ICAN proposed structured collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, including forensic accounting certification programmes for Police investigators, specialised training for detectives and opportunities for cadets of the Police Academy to acquire the Accounting Technician Scheme for West Africa (ATSWA) certification.

The engagement also explored the development of a dedicated Police-ICAN response mechanism for high-profile financial fraud cases, leveraging professional accounting expertise to strengthen investigation, evidence development and prosecution of complex financial crimes.

The IGP welcomed the proposed partnership, noting that modern policing requires specialised knowledge and strategic collaboration with professional institutions. He also proposed a joint awareness campaign by the NPF and ICAN to educate businesses and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) on fraud prevention, early detection and responsible financial practices.

The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to strengthening its capacity to investigate and prosecute financial and economic crimes through specialised training, professional partnerships and the adoption of modern investigative techniques, while deepening accountability and professionalism in the fight against emerging forms of criminality.
