Kai Trump recently opened up about the difficulty of leaving her family behind as she embarked on her college journey. In a vlog posted to her YouTube channel, the 19‑year‑old admitted she had been “literally sobbing,” describing the sadness of saying goodbye to loved ones.
Though she doesn’t usually consider herself an emotional person, she confessed that the move from her home in Jupiter, Florida, to her new apartment in South Beach had stirred feelings she rarely shows.
The incoming University of Miami freshman explained that the tears were unusual for her, noting she has only cried that intensely a handful of times.
Facing the reality of parting with friends and family, she said the thought of goodbyes “really, really sucks,” even as she looked forward to the excitement of starting a new chapter.
Kai acknowledged the bittersweet mix of anticipation and struggle, emphasizing that while she is eager for what lies ahead, the transition has been emotionally taxing.
Her move comes at a particularly challenging time for her family. Kai’s mother, Vanessa Trump, revealed in May that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, sharing the news in a candid Instagram post.
Vanessa, 48, has since undergone a medical procedure and expressed gratitude for the support of her children and loved ones. She assured followers that she remains focused and hopeful, asking for privacy as she continues her recovery.
Against this backdrop, Kai’s college departure carries added weight, intertwining her personal milestone with her mother’s ongoing health battle.
