Multiple children in Florida, including a six-week-old baby, were forced to live in what the sheriff himself called a “house of horrors.”
Jodie Cannon, 26, was arrested in late July after her infant was hospitalized in life-threatening condition from medical neglect. Doctors said the baby was hours from total organ failure. She had allegedly refused earlier offers of medical help.
A week later, deputies executed a search warrant at the home. What they found is stomach-turning. Animal feces and urine covering the floors, black mold, rotting floors from broken plumbing, swarms of flies (including around a child’s filthy mattress), cockroaches, dirty dishes left for who knows how long, almost no food, and a structure so unsafe that code enforcement declared it unfit to occupy.
Arrested alongside Cannon: Jordan Tyler Wilson, 30 (the children’s father), Melissa Keal, 50 (Cannon’s mother), and John Keal, 52 (her stepfather).
