The Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) has held the 12th orientation and oath-taking ceremony for students of the School of Medical Laboratory Technicians, marking another significant milestone in the professional development of future medical laboratory practitioners.
The ceremony brought together the College Provost, Management, academic staff, students and the MLSCN Body, led by the Registrar/CEO, MLSCN, Dr. Donald Ofili, who was represented by Mr Simon Bukar and formally welcomed the Students into the profession and acquainted them with the values, responsibilities and ethical standards expected of medical laboratory professionals.
The Provost, Professor Raheem Akewushola, in his welcoming remarks, charged the students to approach their training with discipline, dedication, integrity and a strong commitment to excellence. Professor Akewushola emphasised that medical laboratory practice plays a critical role in healthcare delivery, as accurate laboratory investigations are essential to diagnosis, treatment and disease prevention.
He also encouraged the students to uphold the dignity of the profession by demonstrating professionalism and patient confidentiality.
The highlight of the event was the administration of the professional oath, which was administered by the representative of the Registrar/CEO, MLSCN, Mr. Simon Bukar, who led the students to formally pledge to uphold the ethical principles and responsibilities of the medical laboratory profession. The oath-taking symbolised their commitment to responsible practice and service to humanity.
The Lagos State College of Health Technology congratulates the students and wishes them a successful and rewarding professional journey.
