LASIAMA HANDS OVER NEWLY COMPLETED LIASU VIS OFFICE TO ALIMOSHO COMMAND
The Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) has handed over the newly completed Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) office at Liasu, Alimosho, following a final inspection of the facility.
The handover, which took place on Friday, marks another milestone in the Agency’s ongoing efforts to provide functional, modern, and fit-for-purpose infrastructure that supports effective public service delivery across Lagos State.
The Liasu VIS facility is one of the 13 VIS projects being delivered by LASIAMA across the State. Other completed projects include the VIS offices at Victoria Island, Igbogbo, Olowu, and Cele, while work continues on the remaining locations.
Speaking during the inspection and handover, the Area Commander, Alimosho Command, Engr. Sheriff Durojaiye, expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that the new structure would significantly improve the work environment for both officers and motorists. “Before this new structure, there was a structure here, but this new facility has given the command a facelift.
It shows that the government is doing what is expected at the right time,” he said.
According to him, the improved facility would create a more conducive environment for VIS operations and ultimately enhance service delivery. “It is going to give us smooth operation and improve service delivery. It will ease our operations and make the environment more comfortable. Motorists will also be happy coming here because they will have a better experience,” Durojaiye added.
Speaking on the significance of the project to LASIAMA’s mandate, the Head of the Special Project Unit, Builder Kazeem Ogunlana, said the completion and handover demonstrated the Agency’s commitment to ensuring that public infrastructure remains functional, purposeful and responsive to the needs of government agencies and the people they serve.
Ogunlana explained that LASIAMA’s intervention goes beyond the physical construction of buildings, stressing that the ultimate objective is to create infrastructure that enables public institutions to perform their responsibilities efficiently.
He said the Liasu VIS project was a practical demonstration of how investment in appropriate infrastructure could translate into better working conditions, improved operational efficiency, and enhanced service delivery to the public.
He noted that the Agency would continue to work with relevant government institutions to identify infrastructure needs and deliver solutions that support the effective functioning of public services across Lagos State.
“The essence of what we do at LASIAMA is to ensure that government infrastructure is not just provided, but that it is functional, fit for purpose and capable of supporting the services for which it was established. A facility like this directly affects how officers work and, ultimately, how members of the public experience government services,” Ogunlana said.
Representing the Contractor, VERICON, Engr. Caleb Nwabassey commended the Lagos State Government and LASIAMA for the confidence reposed in the company to execute the project.
He said the completed facility met the required standards, adding that the contractor had worked to ensure that the project delivered a quality and functional structure that would serve its intended purpose.
The completion of the Liasu VIS office forms part of LASIAMA’s broader intervention in VIS facilities across Lagos State, aimed at improving the physical environment in which vehicle inspection services are delivered.
With the delivery of the Victoria Island, Igbogbo, Olowu and Cele VIS offices, alongside the Liasu facility, LASIAMA is progressively advancing its mandate of providing and maintaining infrastructure that strengthens public service delivery and contributes to a more efficient and people-oriented Lagos State.
