Meghan Markle and Prince Harry arrive back in U.K. with Archie and Lilibet ahead of children starting school in Britain
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have arrived back in the U.K. with their two children as the family prepares for Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to begin school in Britain in September.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived on Wednesday, Aug. 26, PEOPLE has learned, a week after details emerged about their plans to move their family back to the U.K.
The location of their private, non-royal home and the children’s school are being kept closely guarded. The couple, however, will continue to maintain their home in Montecito, California, as well as their vacation property in Portugal.
King Charles was informed about Harry and Meghan’s plans on Aug. 16 and is said to welcome the chance to spend more time with his son and grandchildren privately.
The move does not mean Harry and Meghan are returning to royal duties. The couple stepped back as working members of the royal family in 2020 before relocating to California, and they will remain private individuals and non-working members of the royal family.
The King is also said to be clear that Harry and Meghan’s status will not change, in line with the agreement they previously reached with the late Queen Elizabeth.
For Harry, the return to Britain means being closer to his family while maintaining the separate life he and Meghan established after leaving royal duties.
