 NAF STRENGTHENS JOINT SPECIAL FORCES TRAINING WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE AWARENESS INITIATIVE The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Regiment Training Centre Annex (RTCA), Bauchi, has reinforced its commitment to developing disciplined, resilient and mission-ready Special Forces personnel with a substance abuse awareness lecture for trainees of Special Forces Course 14/2026. Delivered by resource persons from Headquarters 33 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, the lecture formed part of ongoing efforts to equip trainees with the physical, mental and ethical standards required for modern military operations. The sensitisation programme highlighted the dangers of substance abuse and its implications for military professionalism, operational effectiveness and mission success.  Nollywood Filmmaker Kunle Afod Rallies Support for Veteran Actor Opebe Over Mystery Illness


Prominent Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afod, has reached out to the public to solicit urgent assistance for veteran Yoruba actor Opebe, who is currently battling a severe and undiagnosed health condition.


Kunle Afod Makes Passionate Appeal


Afod made the emotional plea on Friday during a personal visit to Opebe’s residence in Ibadan, Oyo State. Sharing a video of his visit on his official Instagram page, the filmmaker highlighted the veteran actor's rapidly declining health and urged well-meaning Nigerians and medical experts to intervene.


Addressing his followers, Afod expressed deep concern over the actor's state, noting that Opebe's physical condition has deteriorated significantly. He called on anyone with medical solutions or financial resources to come forward and support the ailing movie veteran in his time of need.


A Medical Mystery Defying Diagnosis


Speaking about his ordeal, Opebe revealed that his prolonged absence from the Nigerian movie scene was due to his failing health. Despite visiting multiple hospitals and undergoing numerous medical evaluations since last year, doctors have been unable to pinpoint the exact cause of his illness.


Opebe explained that the only definitive finding from his various tests was a critical shortage of blood, which required him to receive a transfusion of four pints of blood. However, his condition has continued to worsen, leaving his family and colleagues increasingly worried.


The veteran actor's situation has once again sparked conversations around the welfare of aging Nollywood stars, with fans and industry stakeholders calling for structured healthcare plans for veterans who have dedicated their lives to entertaining the nation.
