Former Catholic Knight arrested over alleged ritual cleansing exercise in Nnewi Vigilantes in Nnewi have arrested Sir James Louis Okoye, a former Catholic Knight of St John International, who reportedly renounced Christianity during the official opening of Our Lady of Assumpta Catholic Church, Nnewi in January this year over non-recognition of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. Okoye was arrested after he was seen on Saturday wearing a red dress with fresh palm fronds between his lips, with a bell in hand, performing what he believed was the ritual cleansing of Nnewi land on the streets of the town. Okoye gained popularity in January, during the official consecration of the Nnewi Catholic Cathedral, where he decried the non-recognition Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who he believed built the cathedral to almost completion before his death.  Osun decides: Election will be peaceful, I will win – Gov Adeleke


Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed optimism that the ongoing governorship election in the state will be peaceful and that he will emerge victorious.


Adeleke spoke shortly after casting his vote at Sagba Agbogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North Local Government Area.


The governor arrived at the polling unit at about 8 am, accompanied by a large number of supporters.


Shortly after casting his vote, Adeleke expressed confidence in his chances of securing victory in the election and urged voters across the state to come out en masse to exercise their franchise and protect their votes until the completion of the electoral process.


The governor said the election provides the people of Osun with an opportunity to determine who governs the state for the next four years, appealing to voters to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the voting and collation processes.


“This election will be peaceful and I will win. I want you people of Osun State to remain at your polling units and monitor the process in accordance with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,” he said.
