Otti's Re-election Claim By Sen. Orji Kalu Is Wishful Thinking, Not Political Reality.
The Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress wishes to categorically dissociate itself from the comments credited to one of our respected leaders and serving Senator, His Excellency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, suggesting that the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti of the Labour Party, will be re-elected in 2027.
While His Excellency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is entitled to his personal opinion as guaranteed by the Constitution, we wish to make it abundantly clear that his remarks do not represent the position, aspirations, or official stand of the APC in Abia State.
As a party, we consider the statement as very unfortunate and at variance with the collective resolve of our members and teeming supporters who are working tirelessly to rescue Abia State from a government built on propaganda rather than measurable performance.
The APC in Abia state remains united, focused, and fully committed to winning the 2027 governorship election and all other elective positions in the state. We are convinced that Abians have endured enough disappointments under the present administration and are willing to embrace a credible alternative.
A critical measure of all sectors of government reveals that Gov. Alex Otti has not done enough to earn another mandate from Abians.
Come February 6, 2027, Abians will use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to demand accountability for the over ₦112 billion reportedly spent on the construction of so-called smart schools and the renovation of public schools projects whose impact remains largely invisible across Abia State. The ballot will become the people's instrument for seeking answers to how such enormous public funds were expended without corresponding evidence in the state's education infrastructure.
Civil servants will demand to know why the full implementation of the ₦70,000 national minimum wage and other allowances due to them has remained a challenge despite humongous monthly allocation of over 40 billion Naira monthly allocation from the Federation account.
Retirees will demand for their gratuities and pensions which they were denied and forced into signing off and will demand for justice at the ballot box.
The electorate will seek to know the whereabouts of the over 800 billion Naira allocations accruing to the local government councils and insist that every kobo meant for grassroots development is transparently accounted for.
Our youths will ask questions about the alleged ₦6.5 billion recreational facility that exists only on social media.
Above all, come 2027, Abians will vote for transparency, accountability, prudent management of public resources, and a government that genuinely prioritizes the welfare of its people over media hype and propaganda.
We therefore urge our members and supporters to remain focused and undistracted by individual opinions. The APC both at the Federal and state is on a clear mission and an unwavering determination to reclaim Abia State in 2027.
We are confident that the APC will secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election, win the three Senatorial and the 8 House of Representatives seats, take the 24 seats in the Abia State House of Assembly, and, by the grace of God and the mandate of the people, elect Dr. Eric Chinemeucheya Opah as the next Governor of Abia State.
The journey to restore purposeful leadership in Abia has begun, and no personal opinion, however highly placed, can diminish the determination of our party or the resolve of the people to bring about genuine change.

Uche Aguoru
