Allow Your Children to Struggle, Nollywood Actress Patience Ozokwor Advises Parents Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has advised parents against shielding their children from every form of hardship, saying allowing them to experience some struggles is essential to building responsible and resilient adults. Ozokwor said she struggled her way to success, recalling that she once fried buns and prepared chicken to sell at movie locations and audition venues while saving money for transportation. Speaking in an interview with Femi Bassey TV on YouTube, shared on Wednesday, the actress said parents who constantly tell their children they would not experience the difficulties they faced while growing up could inadvertently weaken them. “When you say, ‘I don’t want my children to suffer what I suffered when I was growing up,’ okay, that’s the best way to destroy your children,” she said. “I’m not saying allow them to suffer. Perez Hilton’s mother seeks temporary custody of his three children after hospitalization

Perez Hilton’s mother is seeking temporary custody of his three children following the celebrity blogger’s hospitalization after a mental health crisis at his South Florida home last week.

Court records in Miami-Dade County show that Hilton’s 48-year-old mother filed a petition for temporary custody of the children.

The family’s attorney said the priority is protecting the children and providing them with stability as they cope with the events of the past week.

“My main concern and objective, as well as the family’s, is to protect the children and make sure they are safe,” the attorney said in a statement. “We want them to have some sense of normalcy as they begin their journey of healing after the tragic events that occurred last week.”

Hilton, whose legal name is Mario Lavandeira, was hospitalized after livestreaming what appeared to be an act of self-harm from his Westchester home on Aug. 4.

The livestream, which was removed by TikTok, appeared to show Hilton with blood and visible cuts while holding what appeared to be a knife. Viewers reportedly urged him to seek help and attempted to get his phone number so authorities could be contacted.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to multiple calls about a person livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media. Authorities later confirmed the person was Hilton and said he was taken into protective custody under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows for involuntary evaluation when someone is believed to pose a danger to themselves or others because of a possible mental health condition.

Hilton’s family said over the weekend that he remained hospitalized in serious but stable condition after being stabilized. His injuries were expected to require surgery.

The family said its focus remains on Hilton’s medical treatment and recovery as his children are cared for during the situation.
