Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  President Erdogan discusses regional peace, ties with Rwanda, DRC leaders


Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has discussed regional issues with his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Felix Tshisekedi in separate phone calls, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate said, Anadolu Agency reported.


During his call with Tshisekedi, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Türkiye and the DRC.


Erdogan said Türkiye would continue taking steps to enhance cooperation between the two countries in many areas, particularly investment, trade, the defence industry and security.


He also expressed Türkiye’s support for processes launched to achieve a lasting and peaceful resolution to the security situation in eastern DRC.


In a separate call with Kagame, Erdogan noted that positive progress had been made in trade and investment between Türkiye and Rwanda.


Türkiye would continue working with Rwanda in many areas, particularly the defence industry, he added.


The Turkish leader also welcomed efforts to ease tensions between Rwanda and the DRC.
