 Military judge suppresses Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s FBI confession in 9/11 case A military judge has excluded a confession that alleged Sept. 11 attacks mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed gave to FBI agents nearly 20 years ago, ruling that the statements were not made voluntarily. The decision is a setback for the U.S. government's long-running effort to prosecute Mohammed, who is accused of helping develop the plot to hijack planes and crash them into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Mohammed remains detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, alongside other defendants awaiting trial. Lt. Col. Michael Schrama, the judge overseeing the case, scheduled a June 2028 trial for Mohammed and three other defendants earlier this week. In an order issued Friday that has not been made public, Schrama barred prosecutors from using statements Mohammed made during four days of FBI questioning at Guantanamo in January 2007. President Bola Tinubu sends his warm felicitations to Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, on his birthday. 


A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, Information & Strategy, says the President describes him as a distinguished academic, technocrat and committed party leader whose experience and intellectual depth have continued to enrich the administration of the party and its efforts to provide effective political leadership.


President Tinubu also acknowledges the celebrant's contributions to strengthening the party's organisational structures, fostering unity among party members and promoting the shared vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda.


The President commends Professor Yilwatda for his dedication, discipline and steadfast commitment to the ideals of the APC, particularly this time when the party continues to consolidate its position as a strong platform for national development, democratic governance and progressive politics.


President Tinubu remarks, "Professor Yilwatda is a passionate advocate for the underserved. I particularly commend his initiatives in advancing policies that drive sustainable development and social impact."


President Tinubu while commending Prof. Yilwatda's services to th party and the nation, notes that his contributions to the growth of the APC and commitment to democratic values are worthy of recognition.
