 Emefiele:  Finance Ministry Unaware of N124.86bn CBN Withdrawal,   Witness Tells Court   A Director in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Ali Mohammed, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, told the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, that the Ministry was not aware of the withdrawal of N124.86 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.   Mohammed, who testified as the prosecution witness 10, PW10, in the ongoing trial of the former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this while being led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, Abbas Mohammed.   The witness said he appeared before the court because his Ministry received a letter from the investigation team concerning N154 billion said to have been withdrawn by the CBN.   Explaining his position and responsibilities in the Ministry, Mohammed said, “My Lord, the Department of Home Finance is made up of three functions based in three divisions, that is State and Public...

​President Bola Tinubu congratulates Team Nigeria on their remarkable performance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.


The ​President celebrates the athletes for demonstrating the resilience, determination, discipline, and excellence that define the Nigerian spirit.


A statement by  Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga says  President Tinubu commends Team Nigeria for flying the country's flag with dignity and pride, affirming that the 24 medals won—10 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze—are a testament to their hard work and perseverance.


​The President notes that the experience gained by every athlete will serve as a strong foundation for greater accomplishments in future international competitions and inspire many young Nigerians to embrace the values of commitment and national service.


​President Tinubu praises the leadership of the Nigeria Olympic Committee and the National Sports Commission for their continued commitment to the development of sports and support for athletes.


​The President urges the athletes to remain focused and continue reaching for excellence.            He notes that his administration remains steadfast in its resolve to invest in sports development, strengthen sporting institutions, improve training facilities, and create greater opportunities for talented athletes to excel on the continental and global stage.
