BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE FOUR SUSPECTS ARRESTED OVER FARMER-HERDER CLASH IN NINGI LGA THAT CLAIMED ONE LIFE Following the unfortunate farmer-herder clash at Guda Village in Ningi Local Government Area, the Command wishes to inform the public that four suspects have now been arrested in connection with the incident. On 23rd September, 2026 at about 0740hrs, three farmers from Guda Village went to their farms on Guda Hill and found cattle belonging to a herder grazing on and destroying their crops. They chased the cattle to the herders' settlement where an argument ensued and degenerated into a fight. In the process, the three farmers sustained injuries. Sadly, in retaliation, some youths from Guda Village mobilized and set ablaze houses at the herders settlement. Operatives from Ningi Division responded promptly, restored normalcy and evacuated the injured to General Hospital Ningi.  School security guard sentenced to one year imprisonment for sexually abusing 10-year-old pupil in Abia


A 30-year-old school security guard attached to Radiant Glory Academy, Umuichichi, Aba, Abia State, Chidiebere Kalu has been sentenced to one year imprisonment for sexually abusing a 10-year-old female pupil. 

 

The judgment was delivered on August 5, 2026 by the Family Court sitting at the Magistrate Court, Aba. 

 

The case arose from reported incidents involving the child within the school environment and was pursued through the criminal justice system following a report by the child’s family. 

 

The court convicted Kalu on two counts of indecent assault and instilling fear in a minor.

 

He was sentenced to one year imprisonment without the option of a fine on the first count, and one year imprisonment with an option of a N200,000 fine on the second count, with both sentences ordered to run concurrently.

 

Reacting to the judgement, the Vivacious Development Initiative (VIDI), in collaboration with the Child Protection Network (CPN), Abia State Chapter, described the conviction as a major victory for child protection and justice.
