SELENA GOMEZ CALLS WONDERMIND FRAUD LAWSUIT 'COMPLETELY MERITLESS' AS SHE SEEKS DISMISSAL. (PHOTO).

Selena Gomez calls Wondermind fraud lawsuit 'completely meritless' as she seeks dismissal

Selena Gomez is pushing back against a lawsuit accusing her, her mother, and former business partner Daniella Pierson of fraud involving their mental health startup, Wondermind, calling the allegations baseless and saying she plans to seek dismissal of the case.

Gomez’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, said the claims that she engaged in fraud or other wrongdoing have no factual or legal basis. He said Gomez intends to vigorously defend herself and file a motion seeking to have the allegations against her dismissed.

The lawsuit was filed in Delaware by investors who claim Gomez, Mandy Teefey and Pierson abandoned Wondermind after investors put approximately $1.2 million into the company. The investors allege the founders misrepresented the startup’s infrastructure and leadership and failed to properly manage the business.

Pierson has also denied the allegations, saying she welcomes the opportunity to provide documentation and financial records that she says will establish what actually happened.

The lawsuit describes Gomez, 34, as one of the world’s most recognizable women and alleges she agreed to serve as Wondermind’s head of marketing and promote the company. Investors claim she failed to deliver on those commitments, alleging that promised partnerships and initiatives never materialized and that the planned app was never developed.

The investors further allege that Wondermind’s founders failed to communicate with them as the company struggled financially. The lawsuit claims employees and vendors were not paid on time and that the business deteriorated over several years without investors being adequately informed.

The complaint also points to alleged personal tensions between Gomez and her mother, saying those difficulties contributed to problems within the company. It claims Pierson was pushed out in 2023 as the startup experienced increasing operational and financial difficulties.

Gomez and Teefey launched Wondermind in 2022 with Pierson. The company promoted itself as a mental fitness platform designed to provide resources and content focused on emotional and mental well-being.

Pierson, who co-founded the company, had previously gained recognition as a young entrepreneur through her newsletter business before joining forces with Gomez and Teefey.

Gomez’s legal team maintains that the allegations against her are unfounded, setting the stage for a legal battle over the future of the lawsuit.
