 IGP DISU DEPLOYS COMMISSIONERS OF POLICE TO COMMANDS, STRATEGIC FORMATIONS The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has approved the deployment of Commissioners of Police to State Commands and strategic formations across the country following the approval of his recommendations by the Police Service Commission. The deployment is aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, enhancing leadership across Commands and formations, and consolidating the ongoing reform and repositioning of the Nigeria Police Force. The newly deployed Commissioners of Police to State Commands are as follows; CP Abia; CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo, CP Plateau; CP Ayodeji Faniyan, fdc, CP Bayelsa; CP Saka Adewale Ajao, CP Cross River; CP Ajo Geofrey Ordue, CP Anambra; CP Nanna Oji Ama, CP Edo; CP Patrick Daaor, CP Jigawa; CP Tani Murtala, and CP Delta; CP Samuel Erale.  Sokoto State Police Foils Bandits Attacks, Recovers 368 Rustled Animals 


The Sokoto State Police Command has foiled two separate Bandits attacks in Shagari and Rabah Local Government Areas, recovering a total of 368 rustled domestic Animals following coordinated operations by Security Agencies.


A statement by the Command's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa'i, armed Bandits on Tuesday, attacked Horo Birni and Marake Villages in Shagari Local Government Area, shooting sporadically and rustling an unspecified number of livestock.


It says, the Divisional Police Officer in Shagari immediately mobilised Tactical Teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Village Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and Personnel of the Military Forward Operating Base to the affected Communities.


He explains that the joint Security Team engaged the Bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to flee into a nearby forest and abandon all the rustled Animals.


The recovered livestock include 195 Cows, 84 Sheep and Two Camels, while Two Villagers who sustained gunshot injuries are receiving treatment at a Hospital.


In a similar development, another armed Bandits reportedly attacked Maikujera Village in Rabah Local Government Area that  same Day and rustled 171 domestic Animals, including Camels, Cattle, Sheep and Goats.


Police Spokesperson DSP Rufa'i says, the Divisional Police Officer in Rabah, supported by Tactical Operatives, swiftly blocked the escape routes and confronted the attackers in another Gun duel, compelling them to abandon all the stolen Animals before escaping into the forest.


The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, commended the bravery and professionalism of the Police Tactical Teams, the Village Crime Response Unit and the Military for their prompt response, which led to the successful recovery of all the rustled Animals without any casualty among Security Personnel.


He assured Residents that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and urged Members of the Public to continue providing timely and credible information to Security Agencies to enhance the fight against criminality across the State.
