 PRESS RELEASE OYO POLICE ARREST SIX SUSPECTED COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY DEALERS, RECOVER €8,900 SUSPECTED FAKE EURO NOTES The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six suspects linked to the possession, circulation and alleged production of counterfeit Euro currency, following a successful patrol operation by operatives of the Command. On 1 September 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., operatives on township patrol around the Labo–Wesley area intercepted three men travelling on a motorcycle. A search conducted on them led to the recovery of 89 pieces of suspected counterfeit €100 notes, with a total face value of €8,900. The suspects were identified as Tijani Saheed, 50, who was found in possession of the suspected counterfeit currency; Oni Oladapo, 67, who is alleged to have supplied the money; Adebayo Saheed, 52, who was the second passenger on the motorcycle; and Hammed Karemu, 25, the motorcycle rider.  South Korea to host African ministers for AI summit

South Korea will host African ministers in September for talks on expanding artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure across the continent, where widespread AI adoption could generate up to $1 trillion in additional economic output by 2035, Seoul's Finance Ministry said in a statement, AA reported.

The four-day conference, beginning September 8 in Seoul, will focus on combining South Korea's technology capabilities with Africa's growing demand for digital infrastructure and innovation.

Finance ministers from all 54 African countries have been invited, along with information and communications technology ministers from key countries, African Development Bank officials and representatives of international organizations and private companies.

Participants are expected to discuss expanding AI and digital infrastructure and deploying South Korean AI technology in healthcare, agriculture and education through what organizers described as a "K-AI package."

The event, e, co-hosted by the African Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of Korea, will also include a business innovation forum, seminars, one-on-one business meetings, exhibitions and investment presentations aimed at connecting African governments with South Korean companies.
