 Payment of Assessment Fee, not Building Permit , Planning Ministry Clarifies. By Ruth Orji The Anambra State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has  clarified developers  that payment of an assessment fee does not automatically confer approval or grant a development permit. The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barr. Chijioke Ojukwu, stated this in a statement issued on August 24. According to the Commissioner, many developers mistakenly assume that payment of the assessment fee amounts to the approval of their building plans or the issuance of a development permit. He explained that Section 19 of the Physical Planning Regulations clearly states that payment of an assessment fee does not amount to the grant of a building permit, as the fee is strictly an application fee. Barr. Ojukwu further noted that the Ministry's Legal Department may raise administrative queries where proposed building plans violate the approved building cover...

 TikTok creator Sydney Towle dies at 26 after sharing cancer journey with more than 1 million followers


Sydney Towle, a TikTok creator who shared her cancer journey with more than 1 million followers, has d!ed at the age of 26.


Her family announced the news on her social media accounts on August 6, saying she passed away on August 5. A tribute described Towle as a daughter, sister and friend who brought joy to many people.


Her older brother Austin Towle also shared the message on TikTok, calling her the “best sister ever.”


The announcement came two days after Austin revealed that Sydney had entered hospice care and was surrounded by family and friends.


Towle was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare bile duct cancer, at age 23. She later documented her experience online, sharing updates about surgeries, clinical trials and treatments as she continued living with the illness.


In May 2026, Towle posted videos from the hospital while receiving care for complications related to her condition. She later shared that her cancer had spread to the peritoneum, the lining of the abdomen and pelvis.


Her family and followers have continued sharing messages remembering her following the announcement of her passing.
