 Grammy-winning producer William Orbit, who worked with Madonna, Britney Spears and U2, dies at 69 William Orbit, the Grammy-winning producer behind some of the biggest hits from artists including Madonna, Britney Spears and U2, has died at the age of 69. Orbit’s family announced that he died at home on July 23, 2026, saying he would be deeply missed by loved ones and the many people whose lives he influenced through his music, friendship and kindness. A cause of death was not disclosed, and his family requested privacy. Orbit began his music career in the early 1980s as a member of the electronic trio Torch Song before transitioning into production. He became widely recognized for his innovative work with major artists and helped shape the sound of late-1990s and early-2000s pop music.
