 Okpoko Building Collapse: Ojukwu Condemns Illegal Structure, Orders Demolition ‎ ‎By Chukwuka Ugokwe ‎ ‎The Anambra State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Bar. Chijioke Ojukwu, has on Oct 8, described the collapse of a three-storey building under construction in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, as unfortunate. ‎ ‎The incident, which occurred in the Anata Anaba area of the town, claimed the lives of a middle-aged woman and her 14-year-old daughter, amid allegations that warnings about the safety of the building had been ignored. ‎ ‎The victims, identified as Happiness Ugoagu and her daughter, Chikaima, were reportedly asleep in their bedroom when the building collapsed onto their residence. ‎ ‎Ojukwu, who visited the scene alongside officials of the ministry, alleged that substandard materials had been used in the construction. Popular Nigerian financial commentator Geh Geh has sparked a vital conversation online after advising men to maintain a level of caution and financial vigilance in their marriages. According to the pundit, having genuine trust in a partner does not mean men should overlook protecting their assets and financial future.


The Reality of Marriage and Changing Dynamics


Speaking on the fluid nature of relationships, Geh Geh emphasized that people often change due to unforeseen circumstances. He argued that while couples may experience years of genuine love and harmony, those feelings are not guaranteed to last forever. He cautioned men against adopting a naive outlook on long-term relationships.


"Do you think life is a Nollywood movie? Life is not Nollywood," Geh Geh stated, addressing those who dismiss caution under the guise of absolute trust in their wives. He pointed out that a woman can be supportive and loving for five years, only to turn against her partner in the sixth year due to shifting dynamics.

To back his claim, the commentator cited the frequent occurrences of high-profile divorces, particularly involving professional footballers who have lost significant portions of their wealth and properties during separation proceedings.


He noted that these men did not necessarily enter their marriages with doubts. Instead, they deeply loved and trusted their partners at the beginning, which led them to neglect safeguarding their assets. Because they failed to establish financial boundaries or legal protections, they ultimately paid a heavy price when the relationships dissolved.


Balancing Love and Security


Geh Geh’s advice serves as a warning for modern men to decouple emotional trust from financial security. He stressed that protecting oneself legally or financially does not diminish the love within a relationship, but rather serves as a necessary safety net in an unpredictable world.
