 "Worth It" — Woman Pleads Guilty to Fatally Shooting 11-Month-Old Son to Keep Him From Father Madeline Veronique Daly, 36, pleaded guilty this week in Silver City, New Mexico, to first-degree murder in the December 23, 2025 killing of her 11-month-old son, Basil Stoner. Grant County deputies had tracked her to an RV off Highway 15 on a Wyoming kidnapping warrant after she took the baby during a custody dispute with his father, Jake Stoner. While officers waited for a warrant and tried to negotiate, Daly put a 9mm handgun to the boy’s face and fired. According to the criminal complaint, Daly told investigators her thought when she saw law enforcement approach was: “Jake can’t get Basil.” After her arrest she said it was “worth it” if Basil’s father and his family never got him. Two Senior NOCMA Officials Arrested in Malawi Over $403,605 Fuel Payment Scandal


Police in Malawi have arrested two senior officials at the state-owned National Oil Company of Malawi, NOCMA, over an alleged fraudulent transfer of $403,605 linked to fuel-related payments.


According to police and local media, the officials could face charges including negligence in safeguarding public funds and misuse of public office.


Police say the money was transferred to an account in Mozambique for fuel loading and clearing fees. NOCMA had earlier described the case as suspected cyberfraud involving altered banking details.


Local media later reported that NOCMA claimed no money was lost and that the funds had reached the intended recipient.


The conflicting accounts have raised questions about how the payment was approved and what actually happened to the money. Investigations are still ongoing
