 Okpoko Building Collapse: Ojukwu Condemns Illegal Structure, Orders Demolition ‎ ‎By Chukwuka Ugokwe ‎ ‎The Anambra State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Bar. Chijioke Ojukwu, has on Oct 8, described the collapse of a three-storey building under construction in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, as unfortunate. ‎ ‎The incident, which occurred in the Anata Anaba area of the town, claimed the lives of a middle-aged woman and her 14-year-old daughter, amid allegations that warnings about the safety of the building had been ignored. ‎ ‎The victims, identified as Happiness Ugoagu and her daughter, Chikaima, were reportedly asleep in their bedroom when the building collapsed onto their residence. ‎ ‎Ojukwu, who visited the scene alongside officials of the ministry, alleged that substandard materials had been used in the construction. TWO TEXAS OFFICERS BRAVED A MASS OF MARAUDING BEES TO RESCUE A DISABLED MAN BEING ATTACKED BY THE SWARM.(PHOTO).

 Two Texas officers braved a mass of marauding bees to rescue a disabled man being attacked by the swarm.


This absolutely courageous act of self sacrifice played out in Lyford, Texas on July 13th. On that day, the Lyford Chief of Police, Marcos Garcia, would lead from the front with the help of Officer Raymundo Sanchez to go above and beyond for a citizen in peril.


The two heroes of the day were responding after receiving a report of an ongoing attack by a swarm of bees.


To add to the drama of the day, the citizen under attack suffers from a physical disability that prevented him from executing his own escape.


When the two officers arrived, they quickly located the victim lying on the ground while suffering an unrelenting attack by the bees. The victim had draped a towel over his chest in an attempt to mitigate some damage, but it appeared to be doing very little for the unfortunate man.


Chief Garcia wasted no time as he leaped from his cruiser and charged head first into the fray. He had no need to worry as Officer Sanchez was matching him step for step. 


The two men made it to the victim in seconds and completely ignored the multiple stings they were receiving as they carried out their rescue mission. The two officers quickly grabbed the victim and lifted him off of the ground. One officer opened the door of a nearby police truck, and the two managed to place the victim inside, effectively ending the immediate danger to the victim. 


Chief Garcia was stung at least 18 times during the rescue operation. There is no report on Officer Sanchez's sting count. 


The initial victim was stung over 30 times and would require an extended hospital stay as he recovered. 


The victim was attempting to carry out some light chores outside of his home when he inadvertently disturbed the bee's hive. In the aftermath of the attack, the hive was located and removed.


Great job, Chief Garcia and Officer Sanchez. You two are perfect examples of the serve and protect moto.
