 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported. Trump has repeatedly criticized ‌South ⁠Africa since the start of his second term for what he falsely claims is the racial persecution of its white minority, citing affirmative action laws aimed at ⁠addressing the inequality that has persisted since apartheid.  UK court confirms Poco Lee’s assault case


The Snaresbrook Crown Court in the United Kingdom confirmed that Nigerian dancer, Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, will appear before the court over an assault case.


The London-based court confirmed the case in a correspondence sent out on Tuesday, August 25. 


The court’s Admin Team Lead, James Baker, confirmed to Punch that the case is listed for plea and trial preparation on September 15, 2026but declined to provide the exact time or courtroom ahead of the hearing.


He wrote “OFFICIAL. Good afternoon. I can confirm that this case is currently listed at Snaresbrook Crown Court for plea and trial preparation on the 15th September 2026.


Criminal Court hearings are open to the public. Precise times and courtroom information will not be available until the day before the hearing. Many thanks.”


Recall that on Monday, the founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Benjamin Kuti, also known as Oluomo of Derby, said Poco Lee was in a UK prison and was expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026.


Kuti said he was aware of the development because he regularly attends court proceedings and supports Nigerians involved in legal matters in the UK.
