 “We Don’t Want Violent Politics In Kaduna,” Group Tells Political Parties, Urges Them to Call Supporters To Order The Kaduna Peace Ambassadors Forum has called on political parties in Kaduna State to caution their supporters and prevent further violence following recent clashes involving members of major political parties in the state. The group said Kaduna had enjoyed relative peace for a long period and should not return to an era of violent politics. In a statement, the forum expressed concern that political disagreements and clashes in the past had sometimes escalated into religious conflicts, with consequences for communities across the state. It therefore called on security agencies to take appropriate measures to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the recent clashes, while strengthening preventive measures to avoid a recurrence.  Investigation finds Southern California Edison equipment caused deadly Eaton Fire in Los Angeles 

The 2025 Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County, which killed 19 people and destroyed or damaged more than 9,000 homes and businesses, was caused by equipment owned by Southern California Edison, according to fire officials.

A report released by the Los Angeles County Fire Department concluded that the blaze began after electrical arcing from an out-of-service Edison transmission tower ignited the fire. Investigators said they spent 18 months reviewing evidence and consulting electrical and metallurgical experts before determining the cause.

The Eaton Fire erupted on Jan. 7, 2025, alongside the devastating Palisades Fire and burned nearly 22 square miles before firefighters fully contained it weeks later.

Southern California Edison has faced multiple lawsuits related to the fire and has argued that local agencies contributed to the disaster by failing to issue timely evacuation warnings and by not providing enough water resources for firefighting efforts. Eighteen of the 19 people killed in the Eaton Fire lived in west Altadena.

The Palisades Fire, which occurred at the same time, became the most destructive wildfire in Los Angeles history and one of the worst in California. It killed 12 people and destroyed more than 6,800 homes and structures as it swept through Pacific Palisades neighborhoods.
