 Two Texas officers braved a mass of marauding bees to rescue a disabled man being attacked by the swarm. This absolutely courageous act of self sacrifice played out in Lyford, Texas on July 13th. On that day, the Lyford Chief of Police, Marcos Garcia, would lead from the front with the help of Officer Raymundo Sanchez to go above and beyond for a citizen in peril. The two heroes of the day were responding after receiving a report of an ongoing attack by a swarm of bees. To add to the drama of the day, the citizen under attack suffers from a physical disability that prevented him from executing his own escape. When the two officers arrived, they quickly located the victim lying on the ground while suffering an unrelenting attack by the bees. The victim had draped a towel over his chest in an attempt to mitigate some damage, but it appeared to be doing very little for the unfortunate man. Chief Garcia wasted no time as he leaped from his cruiser and charged head first into the fray....

  White House uses Spider-Man for immigration enforcement post

The White House has used an image of Spider-Man in a social media post promoting the work of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), sparking criticism from fans and calls for possible legal action.


The post, shared through the White House’s official social media account, depicts the Marvel superhero using his web to capture people described by the administration as “criminal illegal aliens.” The image was accompanied by the caption, “Your friendly neighborhood ICE agents,” referencing Spider-Man’s well-known description as the “friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.”


The post has drawn reactions from some fans who questioned the use of the Marvel character in an immigration enforcement campaign. Some commenters called on Marvel, Disney and Sony to take legal action over the image. The post comes shortly after the release of Spider-Man: A Brand New Day, adding to the attention surrounding the White House’s use of the character.


The administration has previously used popular culture and music in posts supporting its immigration policies. Several musicians and entertainers have publicly objected to their music being used in political or pro-ICE content.


Among those who have criticised the administration’s use of their music are Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Rihanna and Sabrina Carpenter.


A number of other celebrities, including Pedro Pascal, Jamie Lee Curtis, Eva Longoria and Tyler, the Creator, have also publicly expressed opposition to ICE’s immigration enforcement policies. The latest Spider-Man post has also prompted speculation about whether stars associated with the current film franchise, including Tom Holland and Zendaya, will respond to the White House’s use of the character.
