Former Catholic Knight arrested over alleged ritual cleansing exercise in Nnewi Vigilantes in Nnewi have arrested Sir James Louis Okoye, a former Catholic Knight of St John International, who reportedly renounced Christianity during the official opening of Our Lady of Assumpta Catholic Church, Nnewi in January this year over non-recognition of late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. Okoye was arrested after he was seen on Saturday wearing a red dress with fresh palm fronds between his lips, with a bell in hand, performing what he believed was the ritual cleansing of Nnewi land on the streets of the town. Okoye gained popularity in January, during the official consecration of the Nnewi Catholic Cathedral, where he decried the non-recognition Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who he believed built the cathedral to almost completion before his death. Popular Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Omah Stanley Didia, famously known as Omah Lay, has opened up about his decision to stop forcing himself to quit smoking. The “Soso” hitmaker shared his candid perspectives on his lifestyle choices during a recent guest appearance on a podcast hosted by DJ Dan.


The Battle with Quitting and Ultimate Acceptance


During the interview, Omah Lay admitted that his journey with smoking has been filled with multiple failed attempts to kick the habit. Despite putting pressure on himself to stop in the past, the singer revealed that he has now reached a point of absolute self-acceptance regarding his lifestyle.


Adopting a somewhat philosophical outlook on life and mortality, the singer questioned the necessity of forcing a lifestyle change when death is inevitable. “Honestly, life is just one. Because cannabis remains illegal under Nigerian law, the singer explained that partaking in it fuels a sense of rebellion that he enjoys. “I just want to be at peace and smoke my weed,” the singer stated, emphasizing his desire to live authentically without the burden of constant self-policing. “This is my life. I will just live it. I will enjoy every single thing that I have.”


Omah Lay’s raw and unfiltered honesty has sparked widespread conversations among fans and critics alike, shedding light on the complex relationship between artistic pressure, personal coping mechanisms, and public perception in the Afrobeats industry.
