Woman allegedly stabs husband to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Abia State

A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident occurred on Saturday night and has left residents of the community in shock. Details of what led to the alleged stabbing remain unclear, though reports indicate Nwaọjị was attacked while asleep.

Community member David Amaraizu confirmed the development in a telephone interview with journalists on Sunday. He said the couple, who married in December 2025, had been together for barely eight months.

“We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident,” Amaraizu said. “The woman has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body has been deposited at a morgue.”

When contacted, Abia State Police Public Relations Officer Maureen Chinaka said she would get back to journalists. An official statement was still being awaited at the time of filing this report.

In a similar incident in February 2026, the Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a woman in Umuahia for allegedly stabbing her husband, an Immigration officer, to death over claims of infidelity. State Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa said the suspect was arrested and being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department for murder.
