 Abia Demolishes Structures Along Railways Quarters for New Road Project The Abia State Government has demolished shops and shanties on the right flank of the Nigerian Railways Quarters in Umuahia to clear the way for an ongoing road construction project. The Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA) defended the action, stating that the occupants were given sufficient notice before the bulldozers moved in. According to the design plan and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Abia State Government and the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), the new road will run from the First Bank junction on Market Road through the Railways Quarters and terminate at Akanu Ibiam Road in the state capital. The government said the project is intended to ease traffic congestion in Umuahia and restore the aesthetic appeal of the capital city.  33-year-old Nigerian man arrested for s£xually assaulting 2 women, including underage girl, in Canada.


A Nigerian man, Olusegun Onidare, has been arrested and charged over alleged sexual assault of two women in separate incidents that occurred in the municipality of Brampton, Ontario, Canada.


The Peel Regional Police confirmed the charges in a statement on Wednesday, September 2, stating that the incident occurred on August 31 when two women reported that they were assaulted by a man whose identity was unknown at the time. 


According to the police, the first incident happened inside a mall in the city when a woman reported to be in her 20s was s£xually assaulted by a man later identified as Mr Onidare while shopping. 


Later that day, the suspect allegedly approached an underage girl at a transit terminal, struck up a conversation with her before proceeding to s£xually assault her.


“On Monday, August 31, two females were allegedly s€xually assaulted in separate incidents in Brampton by an unknown male. In the first incident, a woman in her 20s was shopping at a mall in the area of Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard when the suspect allegedly approached and s€xually assaulted her. 


“Later that day, a female under the age of 18 was waiting at a transit terminal in the area of Central Park Drive and Queen Street East when the suspect allegedly approached her, engaged her in conversation, and then s€xually assaulted her,” the Peel Regional Police said. 


Police later declared Mr Onidare wanted and was eventually identified by a member of the public, leading to his arrest. 


He was subsequently charged with two counts of s£xual assault and breach of probation order. 


“A member of the public recognized the male pictured in the previous news release and contacted police, investigators arrested Olusegun Onidare, a 33-year-old male of no fixed address. 


“He has been charged with the following offences: S£xual Assault x 2 and Breach of Probation Order,” the police added. 


Mr Onidare is being held in jail pending bail hearing.
